Adding photos will help increase the clicks on your website and inspire potential customers to look further into your business whether it be searching on Google Maps or looking deeper into what services you have to offer.

Post a Cover Photo

Add Videos

Videos are not necessarily an essential tool for your listing but it can increase your engagement and give people a better idea of how your business works. The videos have to be 30 seconds (or shorter), 100 MB (or shorter), and 720p resolution or higher.

Customer Reviews

Showing customer reviews will legitimatize your business to those that find you on Google. The reviews are a form of proof that your business is real and that customers enjoy the service that you provide.

Why You Need to Create a Google My Business Listing

Now that you know how to create a Google My Business listing, here are some benefits of creating one:

Legitimacy and Customer Trust

Creating a Google My Business listing will legitimize your business to the general public and build more trust with your customers. People who are not familiar with your product or service will see the listing and they are more likely to give you the benefit of the doubt over competitors who do not have the same visibility.

More Popular in Search Results

Using Google My Business will increase visibility when people are searching for your particular area of expertise. For example, if you are a company that provides HVAC service, creating a Google My Business listing will make your site more noticeable in the search results. So this way, if someone types in “HVAC service near me”, the Google listing will increase the likelihood of that person finding you on the front page of that particular Google search.

Google’s Local 3-Pack

When you look at Google’s local search results, you will notice the limited 3-pack. The process for being included in Google’s local 3-pack involves trying a number of different SEO tricks to improve your search ranking and increase the probability of appearing in the pack. The benefits of Google’s local 3-pack for businesses include having a 700% boost in clicks and showing up before organic search results.

Visibility in Google Maps Search

Google Maps is one of the most common tools that consumers use to find local businesses. When searching for local businesses, the results of Google Maps provide red markers that show the local businesses that meet your search criteria. If you create a Google My Business listing, your business has a higher probability of being one of the first recommendations. The visibility of your business on Google maps will give potential customers the exact distance from their home and your business’s location.

Free Advertising

Although running Google Ads is a great way to increase visibility on Google, Google My Business listings are a much more effective and sustainable strategy to boost your rankings in the search results. A Google My Business listing offers free advertising on Google and costs nothing to create, claim, and verify your listing. As opposed to paid ad campaigns, you will see more organic search results and the consumer audience will grow more naturally. If you want already paying for Google Ads, that is perfectly fine. You can use Google My Business as an additional marketing strategy while also using Google Ads and SEO through your website.
