Mingl Marketing Group started off as Mingl Social, LLC, founded in Three Monkey’s Cafe in Philadelphia, PA on a cold December night in 2012 by Ron Musser, Mike Gospodarek, and Don Lafferty.
Ron owned an HVAC contracting company, Mike owned a baseball and softball training company, and Don was an early digital marketing pro from the high tech manufacturing industry.
By 2012, we had all grown tired of watching as social media and digital marketing agencies frustrate small business owners who could not afford to waste their marketing budget or their time on the wrong solution.
The way people and businesses purchased goods and services was going through the most massive shift since the invention of the radio.
We’d done it with Ron’s HVAC contracting business, we’d done it with Mike’s Extra Innings franchise, and we knew so many small business owners who were frustrated and gun-shy in their own search for the right digital marketing solutions.
So after years of friendship between Don and Mike and Mike and Ron, and a year of working together on ECI Comfort and Extra Innings’ digital and social media marketing strategies, Mingl Social was founded on a handshake and some beers at Three Monkey’s Cafe’ in Northeast Philly, the neighborhood where we all grew up.
Our early success working with ECI Comfort got the attention of Mitsubishi Electric and Peirce-Phelps, which dictated a shift in our resources to focus on the HVAC niche, so we spun off COMFORT MEDIA GROUP, Marketing Geared for Contractors. It seemed like every successful marketing company in the HVAC space was niched up, and all the experts were advising that “the riches are in the niches”, so that’s what we did.
And it worked.
Comfort Media Group has grown to become a national leader in the work of digital marketing, lead generation, content marketing, and video marketing for HVAC contractors. CMG’s clients continue to grow at rates exceeding their competition.
Mingl Marketing Group still had some excellent, successful clients and continued to grow while we built Comfort Media Group.
We joined the Lower Bucks County Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Northeast Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, the Bensalem Business Association, and the Bensalem Rotary, and then we proceed to fail forward over and over and over again.
In the lead-up to 2012, digital marketing had become the most effective way to connect with people on a real level that truly empowered companies to personalize their brands and in doing so, take their business relationships and revenues to the next level.
But we still felt a genuine sense of mistrust about “social media marketing” and the actual value being driven by these tools and tactics.
We set out to find a way to measure everything down to the nickel. A way to figure out which marketing efforts were actually making the cash register ring and which were not.
That’s when we became a HubSpot partner, and everything changed.
